Sheaf Valley Park

Central Station Park & Walkway, Sheaf Valley Park, Sheffield, UK

This demonstration site at the back of the train station aims to regenerate the open area into a well-used, safe ‘place for all’ with activity terraces, enhanced habitats, events space and improved access to the site and its connection to the city and surrounding neighbourhoods.  It aims to show how private and public partners can cooperate to deliver efficient and durable management of open spaces. The image below shows the original design for an amphitheatre.

We are pleased to announce, however, that since this picture was taken at Christmas 2010, work has gone at a furious pace and this phase of the project is now complete.  See below for a photo, but if you would like to see more, please visit our Flickr gallery.

Next spring the soil will be seeded with wildflower meadow grass and will look spectacular in the early summer 

To celebrate the completion of this project an official launch was held on 17 September.  With alot of hard work from the Friends of Sheaf Valley Park, Sheffield City Council and South Yorkshire Forest Partnership the day was a great success, reported on by the BBC, and several regional and local newspapers.  See the links below for more detailed articles.
