Hamburg-Steilshoop

The material investments funded through the project are complemented by information and evaluation of investments and innovations closely allied to the project but funded through other sources such as the Lawaetz Foundation.  In the Hamburg-Steilshoop area, the model of Housing Improvement Districts is being tested.  Different models of utilising and financing are being tested and implemented with the participation of private actors from the business sector.

In addition to the research into Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), their redesign into Neighbourhood Improvement Districts (NIDs) and how the NID method is being tested in Steilshoop, we now have a new pilot site which will be created in partnership with Lawaetz Foundation and the Get Move Boys below.

NID-led Improvements in the Steilshoop area will include the redesign of the central pedestrian zone and shopping centre.  An application for the NID has now been submitted and awaits approval.   This place-making approach is an interesting, public private partnership, with key business representatives at the heart of its work.  MP4 awaits with interest its implementation.

In the photo below is the 'Get Move' boys' new pilot site.  The plans for this were drawn up over a year ago, but only now is the group able to make its dream come true.
